Google Business Profile checklist for Jacksonville service companies
Moops Local · August 10, 2026
For a lot of local service businesses, the Google Business Profile does as much work as the website when it comes to producing calls. It is also the piece that is easiest to set up once and never revisit.
The checklist
Primary category
Pick the single category that describes what you do most, not the broadest one available. Add secondary categories for genuine additional services. The primary category is one of the strongest signals on the profile for which searches you appear in, so it is worth getting right.
Service area
If you go to customers, set a service area instead of publishing a home address. List the areas you actually serve — Jacksonville, the beaches, Orange Park, St. Johns — rather than the entire state.
Services and descriptions
- List every service individually rather than one generic entry.
- Write a real sentence for each. Empty descriptions are a missed signal.
- Match the words customers use, not internal job codes.
Photos
Real work, real trucks, real crew. Job-site photos beat stock images every time, and profiles with recent photos look active. Add new ones monthly rather than dumping fifty once a year.
Reviews
Ask every satisfied customer, every time, with a link that takes one tap. Respond to all of them, including the bad ones, in a way a future customer would find reasonable.
Hours and messaging
Wrong hours cost you calls and generate bad reviews. If messaging is turned on, someone has to actually watch it.
How to know it worked
Watch calls and direction requests from the profile, not just views. Views without calls usually means the listing is being found but is not convincing.
